Question for the guys running twins:
What is the best technic for trimming the drives, so they stay together? With Gaffrig sticks, the two trim rockers are side by side on one stick but it is easy to miss hitting both rockers simultaniously.

I have a switch on the starboard throttle that trims both at the same time (Fountain 29'). When I owned a Chris Craft Stinger 260 I trimmed each drive to match r.p.m.s as starboard motor was stronger than the port. I just used a very quick tap on the drive toggles. As the CC had no trim indicators I just trimmed to match r.p.m.s, watched the speedo, and went by feel.

Thanks Wes,
I had thought about wiring them together on one switch. |
Watch the trim indicators.

Keep the switches seperate and index your indicators.

Mine have one switch on the throttle & seperates off to the side. They do not trim at the exact same speed & 1st cpl times out I had a severe chine walk. I figured out the using the independent switches & keeping rpm's matched, she flies just fine.

unless everything is perfect, the 2 drives will rise-drop at diff speeds anyway. on trailer, have somebody run trim while you watch drives. count time from all way down to cav plates parallel with hull on both drives. give you an idea which needs more or less button for same amount of trim. trimming down doesn't count, cause engines push drives down more than the pumps do.

I have a trim switch on each throttle. The trim switch on the left side controls both drives. The trim switch on the right only controls the SB drive, and allows me to fine tune it to match the other one; never letting go of sticks.
