bravo-trs flywheel difference

is the only difference in the stock flywheels from a bravo to a trs with top mount starter the ring gear location on the flywheel? can the ring gear be moved to the other side of the flywheel for a bravo app?

yes...but dont reuse the old one,,go to napa and match up a new one..put flywheel in the freezer over night,,take a map torch and warm up the new ring in a circle motion..take flywheel out of the freezer and the ring should drop on..let it get to room temps b4 touching it...

You will probably need to cut the flywheel down on the front side to accept the ring gear. If the flywheel was originally for a TRS, then it will not have the proper shoulder on it for the ring gear to go on the front side.Any machine shop with a lathe with at least a 14" swing can cut it for you. It's a pretty easy job.

the low mount starter is a pass car-truck style set-up. i would think a replacement flywheel would be cheaper than having one machined to accept a new ring gear which you still hafta buy...

machined and ring gear installed... 70 bucks. my old shop teacher from highschool has a machine shop in his back yard. flywheel going in tonight

Hardly. I replacement flywheel with the ring gear on the back side is pretty costly. Expect to pay around $400, since they are not very popular. A replacement ring gear from Napa is about $20. As the op stated, it cost him $70. Definitely the cheapest and quickest way to go.

google search i was finding flywheels from merc for 750.00.. i almost sh!t myself when i saw that. or searching for a flywheel that "should be right". this way i have the flywheel that was balanced with the motor. and works like a dream.

thanks for the input guys!
