Engine vibration
Our cherry picker lift failed as we were putting motor into boat... we didnt see any damage to motor, now the engine vibrates when over 1500 rpm all the way to steering wheel...
Im thinking we messed up the coupler bc i can see the greese fitting moving slightly forward and back... so depressed.. any good places to pick one up?? |
Did you use a drive alignment tool to set your motor mounts before you reinstalled the drive? If the motor is aligned properly, you should not have any vibration.

The drive wasn't removed or housing, I ordered to coupler bc that impacted boat I'm thinking it bent it, it was the triangle version, I'm thinking of removing motor and running on stand w and wo, boat ran fine w last motor new motor shacking first time on gas...
I would check the crank as well, any damage to the crank pulley? You can mount a run out gauge to read the balancer and check in the boat
is this a new engine or old one rebuilt?
Are you sure you got the flywheel on correct. If it's missing the dowel pin and you did not line it up that will make one hell of a vibration.
The engine builder tested it for me on a stand it sounded and ran great... I then brought motor back to reinstall, I'm thinking the bent engine mount or coupler that was hit
Pull the drive and run it; if it is smooth, you have a coupler or alignment problem.
pull the drive - we find warped and or bent couplers by sticking the alignment tool in then run the motor to see how much out of round the alignment tool is spinning. Hope that helps.

Thanks
