SBC Heads/Studs & Water Passages

I just got finished installing my new crane gold roller rockers on my L31 Vortec heads. The heads have been set for 3/8" screw in studs and guideplates. Well I wasn't sure if I needed to seal the screw-in-studs or not. The ARP instructions say just use their lube or 30wt. I replaced the studs and noticed several must extend into the water passeges.....I wasn't sure If I needed to seal them or not. I have a nasty feeling that I should have used a thread sealer on the studs. Well that's why Im here. First off do I NEED to have the sealer? And if so can I just seal the ones going to the water jackets? AND does anybody know WHICH ONES go into the jackets???? I really don't want to take them ALL out if it isn't necessarry. BUT I don't want any problems later either with water in the engine..........

You need to seal those that go into the water jackets.
I don't remember what to use, I hope someone here will tell you what.
The only ones that need sealant are that do go into the water passages. You could use a flash light and look down each hole and see if it has a bottom or a piece of stiff wire to see how deep the hole is. I don't remember which one don't pass through.
If I find any info I'll pass it on.

Its nasty sh-t but sure works
Good luck
