Stainless Garboard Drain?
 

The garboard drain plug on my 25 outlaw has had some galled threads since i got the boat. Finally when attempting to pull the plug to winterize it stripped. I would like to replace the entire fitting before i damage the screw holes in the boat. Looking for something that is stainless with an Oring seal instead of the brass which galls easily and relies on the tapered threads. Any recommendations on where to get one? The captured sea-dog version seems like the only option at this point but i need to double check the bolt circle to see if matches mine.

Cigarette uses what you describe on thier boats. Might try calling Phil at Lip-Ship and see if he has any.

I knew there had to be a better design out there somewhere.

Don't forget stainless steel galls very easily. I have seen my share of bound up SS bolts/nuts. We even went to using Never seize.

Just use some teflon tape on threads. I just snug mine..... dry as a bone and no worries of busting the threads loose in the transom, creating another problem.

Not sure why some people think they have to put a breaker bar on the plug. Seen some so tight the whole assembly pulled out. Consider the floating prop wrenches that have the opening for the drain plug....it's a plastic.
