1996 mercuriser 7.4 still no spark

the distrubator and coil, moduel and pickup coil is new the distrubator sparks on the bench test , their is power to the red wire at the coil but no spark, key switch purple wire has 12 volts when cranking and the yellow/red strip wire has power to the starter when cranking but still no spark, the purple wire that goes into the ECM has no power and when i put 12 volts to that wire still no spark , anyone have anymore ideas, im running out of ideas, also did allthe grounds again all sensors are conected and good , no kill switch on this motor and no crank sensor , before the problem with the VST tank motor the engine ran good

Easy fix

You will need the flow chart:

http://www.boatfix.com/merc/Bullet/83/83_24.pdf

and the wiring diagram:

http://www.boatfix.com/merc/Servmanl/16/16F4R2.PDF

This troubleshooting is very strait forward.

Absolutely it needs to stick down and some are spring loaded. If it seems broken it probably is and sparks could fly all over inside the cap and not make it to the plugs. Check spark by plugging a spark plug into the coil wire running to the cap, ground it with a jumper and see if you get a good consistent spark..
