Tunnelvision has them on his engines . Setup from prosystems was off a bit. Power valve selection and jettin a bit .
Hopefully they will idle better with smaller cams he is going to, and not pumping water thru the chiller at idle like it was.
Personally I'd go with a aftermarket efi. Call boost power and talk to Jerry . He can set u up with a complete kit pretty reasonable

Are you running a Holley ecm? Is it the older 950 series or the newer HP? Is it the 1000cfm billet T-body with fuel rails or are you actually running throttle body efi with the injectors in the T-body?

Yes Smitty and I have been talking a fair amount. Great guy, very smart. I was thinking of staying with the injection, but at over 1200hp with a blow through setup and 522ci. I felt I should at least discuss the option of a blow through carb as well. I guess I have been feeling if my end goal is 1000hp, maybe I should swap the merc injection for a direct injection intake, with a blow through throttle body?
Heads:Your heads are going to either need some serious work or its time to upgrade them too as Edelbrocks are really a entry level head that needs MASSIVE porting to even come close to a out of the box AFR of equal size or even a Dart. In comparison not knowing what heads your edelbrocks are, even the 315 cc marine rectangle port rpm heads flow a dismal 297/228 at .600, pretty much the same numbers as box stock factory rectangle ports, in comparison a set of box stock AFR 315's flows 380/296 at .600 VS 297/228 of the E heads, a 28-30% difference, 28% of 800 hp is 224 hp, a motor that makes 800 hp with your heads will make 1000 with the afr's as long as something else isn't the limiting factor holding it back. When I first built my 540 I had Merlin grumpy Jenkins 310cc heads (which have numbers identical to the Edelebrocks pretty much), motor made 700 hp on the dyno , a few years later I freshened the shortblock, bought much better AFR 315's, had Bob Madera optimize the cam profile (it was about 2 1/2 sizes up the ladder from what I previously had) and went back to the dyno and made 950 hp from better cam, heads and intake work, a 250 HP gain. If you want 800 hp, get your E heads ported, if you want 1000+ SELL them and start with something better, Smitty

2:03 am Smitty.... couldn't sleep last night I have been kicking around a new idea. Run what I have the way it is right now, and enjoy the boat. In the mean time, start collecting and slowly start building a 540 or 572, with really good parts. Oliver, Lunati, je, dart big m, dart pro 1's, m4, and so on and so forth. Then when I have that engine all done and dynoed at 1100-1200hp, just simply swap my new power into the boat. And sell the old power to help put a new Imco scx on the back, cause the xr will last about 2hrs behind the new power. I couldn't sleep last night either!!! Couldn't shut the brain off.
