No offense here, but your Baja is part of the problem. Not exactly efficient.
Do some research. There are so many broken bravo thread on OSO its ridiculous. STOCK 525 288 Sunsation MCOB just broke one at 80hrs inland lake family boating. 29 laveycraft also stock low hours. Nothing against the whipple. Its not the whipple, the procharger, the hardin marine turbo, N/A, etc, its the plain fact of MORE POWER will Destroy a XR. FACT. There is no magic to it. NO secret way to drive. No magic oil. XR drives break every day. There is a reason there are so many shops that rebuild them. Mr. Gadgets Dicks Performance Marine Bravo Shop All American Drive Service Max Machine Works Keith K&S Machine Imco Teague Every Merc dealer Etc etc etc. YES supercharging your boat would be great BUT only if you are aware of the upgraded NEEDED to the drive. Not fair to not warn or prepare someone. |

Not fair to not warn or prepare someone. There may be no magic, but again, it comes down to wetted surface/resistance of the boat, X dimension, prop style, speed, boating conditions and the main thing, the one controlling the sticks. I've never broken an XR or Imco SC and I've driven some pretty stupid power/drive combo's. |
spend the money on the set up, or on buying new uppers.... there are quite a few variables that are driver related. i can attest that the swept uppers, honed out and changing shafts caused my merc 600 efi sci to live just fine in 100 hr increments on my 39 tg. changed the oil every 20 hrs, with the engine oil change, and never ran a constant speed for an excessive amount of time, causing the fluid to always be moving around in the drive. gears looked fine at 100 hrs. insurance policy to replace the gears in the off-season vs. wondering if it'll last another season etc...
and yes, they are a flawed design imo. very surprised they mated them to the 600 and the new 565. but, i must say, i am less of a fan of the nxt, which is why i went with the 600 vs 700 pkg. too many reasons not to buy the nxt. again, just my opinion. not bashing. joe |
