How about an electric water pump. Big HP saver at the high RPMs we turn

I think electrolosis would eat away the anti-cavatation plate and you would have a leak in very little time.

I have an Edelbrock aluminum on a SBC from my 69 Camaro that I am currently rebuilding. Pump is about 12yrs old and has been seeping some water from the plate gasket. I took it apart to see significant pitting from electrolosis. I would think it would be even worse on a boat.

I've had a Meziere on my engine for 4 years now and have not had a problem with corrosion. Meziere makes a very nice piece and offer them in anodize finishes.
