flame arresters?
what do you guys thank will flow more air.the gaffig ss aresters that are 3+10" or the k&n aresster 3+10".i have always used the gaffrig units w/no problems.jus wondering if there is any advantage between the two.thanks

As the air inlet area is identical, the airflow will depend on the pressure drop across the filter element/arrestor. You could ask each manufacturer for the shop measured pressure drop, but I'm not sue I would believe them. In fact, I had a guy on the phone from K&N who was surprisingly honest and told me the reason they don't post HP increases for their FA's is because they don't water test them.
When I bought a K&N FA (2" x 9") to replace my stock OMC FA (same size) I picked up 0.5 MPH (GPS) on a 2 run average. Total 4 runs within 15 minutes to minimize variables like air temp and wind. HTH, John C in PA |
the gaffrig is less restrictive,so it should flow more air,but on most applications,i doubt there would be any noticable difference.

As we talk about flame arrestor,
what would be best air flow for twin carb installation? Dual 8''x 3'' or dual bilet 3'' tall one peice ? |
