Installing new motor with trans help

If anyone could guide me in the right direction here's my issue

I have a Jaws 24 with an alpha 1 gen 2 and a carb 454 I got a good deal on a 540 carb with transmission and I believe it's a TRS drive.

What would I need to install the new set up?

You should be able to swap all the accessories and bellhousing from the old block to the new.

However, you should consider that an Alpha is barely up to the task of harnessing a mild 454. The torque from a 540 will surely twist it up in short order.

I know that's why am asking if the new motor will fit with the transmission and the new drive on the picture

Keep in mind the engine is going to sit that much farther forward (length of trans) in the engine bay. Do you have that much space in front of your engine now? Then the hole in the transom will need to be reworked for the TRS gimble housing. It may need to be raised depending how long a Alpha is compared to a TRS.

The drives in the pic on the boat aren't TRS's. Don't know what the one is laying on the ground next to the engine, can't see it.

I think I do have some space tho it will be really tight, also looking at it I think is not a trs I think it's a speed master drive

I'll post pics of the drives tmrw

Just by looking at the tailstock on the transmission, that's a Speedmaster setup. Probably a #3 Drive my guess. #3 will have a 19 spline propshaft. 3A will have a 26 spline shaft.

Since it looks like you have the transom assembly for the speedmaster, you can always bolt a #4 or #5 drive on, if the #3 Setup was too tall. The #4 will allow you to lower the engine in the hull, and still have a good x dimension.

From the pic, it looks as if you may be missing the "ears" that bolt to the transmission, then to the inner transom plate. They used them if no mid plate was used, which I don't see in the pic. I do just happen to have these ears, and for a reasonable price!

How far more would this set up push my motor forward?

Thunder has it right, if my memory is correct, will move it forward about 12"
