I'm thinking of using this one, anyone tried one of these?

Buying one for a 383 EFI build, I'am doing. It's basically the same as Mercs, no modifications if you buy Hardins.

Hmmm - no one wants to talk about them, huh? Boring subject, I guess. :P Surely someone is out there running this adapter. I would try to call someone in their tech support to ask directly, but I might have to brush up on my Mandarin Chinese first. :)

I have them and I think I gave you the link to Jegs for them. They are set to open around 180*F. I think for the $26 price they work great. And after hard runs and an elevated temp of ~230*F, with the Mobil 1 V Twin 20w50 I run I couldn't be happier. My bearings show it in my Preparing for SuperChargers thread. Minus where something went through the oil system.

This is an old thread , Rookie what model is it if you don't mind me asking

1/2 FPT (NPT) is 0.804" inside diameter. No opinion on Earls don't know them.

Jason .....What did you use for lines and fittings? The brass barbed fittings that come with it and stainless clamps with rubber hose? Setting one of these up now and was wondering if that is sufficient.

I use AN fittings, I believe -12. My oil system is plumbed with stainless braided hose. I also ground all of the sharp flash inside of the thermostat and put a radius on all of the sharp corners and edges to reduce shear. I also drill out my fittings a little.
