Quick Cuestion ---Kill Switch
Where does the kill switch connect to on the coil + or - ? I can't seem to find the answer in my merc manual.
Thanks, Ken |
It wouldn't matter. An open circuit in either one will shut the coil down. That said, my preference is for the + side as that's where most people would associate it.

The kill switch cuts out the ignition circuit. That means that it cuts out the positive wire to the coil, pin #5 (purple wire ) in your main connector. You should not cut the negative wire, that wire is the trigger wire from the ignition control module.

There are a few ways to skin this cat. One way is to "open the positive when you pull the switch cover off. The other way is the other wire that closes when you pull the cap off. This one goes to ground on the coil. with the other end going to coil. If the cap is off there can be no pulse to the coil and it also kills the engine.
