79 31 excalibur weight???
 

hi was wondering if anyone knows what a 79 31 excalibur weighs?? thinking of redoing one also possibly considering doing a big single engine instead of twin this boat has no power so i would be starting from scratch. any input is greatly appr.

Not sure on the weight, but they were heavy. I don't think you'd be happy with a single engine setup in that hull. It would be very hard on the drive.

Does yours have the Pad bottom or straight Vee? If its the pad bottom, that hull became the 10 meter 33 fountain. Then later became the 35 Fountain, still same bottom. I wouldn't consider a 35 Fountain with a single engine.

Check the fuel tanks and make sure they aren't leaking.

its a vee bottom with the flat transom not the notched. i was figuring they were on the heavy side just couldnt find any real info. on weight . i have a bravo xr drive set up with good parts .. just figured i could use that and a pump gas 555 i had and not really spend a ton of money doing it. im not really concened about really how fast it would be just building it for a family pleasure boat. i just like those old excaliburs . just found on nada guides weight was 5100 with twin bbc and trs drives would prob. be safe to say it would at least lose at least 1000lbs going from twins and trs, to single with bravo wouldnt you think??

My guess is the bare hull might be 5100lbs when new . Prob equipped with a pair of big blocks and Trs drives fully rigged probably about 7500lbs or better. With a single 650hp, maybe 60mph. And it be really hard on that single XR drive trying to push that big of a boat all alone

yeah you might be right that would be rather light considering the drives trans and motors are prob over 2000 just thinking of the stuff i had, and my buddys friend had a 32 sunsation with a single and that thing was a 70mph boat. i also have 2 complete standard bravos guess i could just build 2 motors and be done .

My 1977 30 ft. Scarab had a factory dry weight of 6800lbs with 454's and TRS drives. I would guess that the Ex. would weigh more as it was a larger boat. Don't go with a single, it takes 2 400hp engines to go 70 mph. Build a couple of 383 small blocks if you're concerned about gas milage.

The F-1 32' Sunsation that Lee raced had a 525hp single that ran 80+. This Reggie Excalibur weight is around 6200 pounds with powertrain.

I don't get it, fountain has my 32 at 7200lbs dry with twin BBC's.

How the heck could a bigger older boat be less, I thought most people say fountains are built "light".

Do they just make these numbers up?

not really conecerned about the gas the boat has no power just figured it would cut out about 1000lbs and i have a pump gas 588 that i could put in it . so it would be a cheap repower . with what i already had.
