dyno tune close to indianapolis
Who can dyno tune marine engines? I have only found a couple even semi close. Thanks
Eric |
I don't know if they do marine motors I'm pretty sure they have an engine dyno.
http://www.steveschmidtracing.com/ A friend works there. |
Thanks for the info but i have a guy who does my racecar stuff. I want a marine guy to do it
Thanks again though. |
Heard of these guys but unsure if they do dyno work. http://www.eliminatorofindy.com/default.asp

fixx
it realy dont matter who dyno's it weather its a marine guy or not...the will use car headers for each exhaust port to correct the afr's and egt's if they hook them up..tyler crocket in mi or brian 41 in mi ..both have dyno's..tyler is a marine guy and brian does both auto and marine..

Im not as concerned about the dyno part of it as i am the tuning.
|
Tell us about your engines that you want dyno tuned.
|
Save your self some headaches. Build a crate and send your motor complete, along with YOUR exhaust and send it to Mark at Precision in New Orleans. When you get it back, it will be done right, drop it in and go.
Many many happy customers. www.pmefi.com |

carbed or EFI?

Stock efi but thinking about switching it over to carb. I would think that the stock mpi intake cost power even at this level.

3 Attachment(s)
I machined about an inch off of the lower intake to eliminate the restriction of airflow under boosted conditions. The long runners are for N/A torque. No need for that with a blower. To save time, I used a carbide tipped router bit to do the radiused edges ( cuts right thru the aluminum) and then finished them by hand. Doing this and a small cam spec change, got me 50 more HP and 200 rpm up top.

offthefront on here has stock merc efi with prochargers m3 and with the ecm tuned he ran 92 mph with a 353 formula..remember your forcing air into the intake..also fogducker went from 68 to 88 mph with a m1 and a 454 385 that was freshened in a 22 scarab scx??

My boat ran good with the stock 502's and the prochargers. Im making some changes and i want to dump the fmu. Mark at precision informed that with mefi 1 i cannot run the 2 bar map so i must either keep a fmu, change mefi ecu's, aftermarket efi or carbs. My first choice would be the dominator efi but its not in the budget. Not sure what to do.

WEll your welcome for me to even mention that you have a dyno! and you would be willing to dyno his motor for him...
I am sorry I did not thank you before correcting your mention of me in this thread. I do appreciate all the times you have given me a plug over the years. Indysupra and I had a good conversation last night over the phone and I am sure he is headed in the right direction. |

If your looking for peace of mind and a tune on the water give them a call. Very well informed very competent and the experience to do what you are looking for. As to on the fly tuning do not be leary of it..the tech they use to do this is very old and reliable. With some distinct advantages over a dyno..real world. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...veryone-6.html MEFIburn |
Indysupra,
I have had the opportunity to collaborate with Brian on a number of projects over the years and I would highly recommend his dyno and tuning services. He has an immaculate DTS cell at his facility and is competent and thorough in his testing procedures. Most importantly, he will work with you on getting the tune correct throughout the entire curve. Frequently, in many dyno shops, it’s common to forgo the testing element of the session for a glory number to post on a forum, collect the money, and call it a day. Coordinating Alex Haxby (Alex has the ability to assist on the tune real time from a remote location) on the system aspect, in conjunction with Brian validating the results would be an ideal scenario. We have recently assisted over a dozen of our clients in the conversion of carb and OEM EFI to the Holley system. Suffice it to say, programmable EFI is long overdue and finally available for the marine industry. Bob |
