Inconel exhaust valves

Ok why ? Everyone said must have inconel exhaust valves . This is a 750 hp blower motor .

MILD THUNDER 02-28-2013 07:31 PM

Because Marine Engines Stay at full throttle for extended periods, the exhaust valves are subjected to very high EGTs. Standard valves cant take the heat. Recommend in just about all marine applications, and especially forced induction stuff.

because the load on a marine engines causes the exhaust valves to get much hotter than a car engine, espically a supercharged deal, you dont want to tulip the valves.

Because if you don't lifes gonna suck bad one day... I was on the edge of needing them at 400 hp... guess what.. I lost... better to spend the 400 now then the much more redoing engine, luckily I build mine myself or it woulda cost me tons more...

OUCH,thats why you need inconal exhaust valves!

Full Force 03-01-2013 06:05 AM

yes, and when a fuel filter gets clogged up with chit because a boat was not ran hard ever then leans engine out real bad, the inconel saved the day!! at same time not even Dean Gellner ever saw a Inconel valve do this... I cat believe it didnt break...btw.. this IS inconel valve...

Definitely not the place to save a few bucks. Inconel is a proprietary alloy that is extremely corrosion resistant and very tough. Quite difficult to machine. As said above, the exhaust valves in a marine engine experience extreme heat cycles due to the loads and the potential shock from some cold water.

Young Performance 03-01-2013 07:39 AM

That's the other reason....cold water shock. Unless you are running completely dry tailpipes, then there is always water vapor flying around in the exhaust. All it takes is a few drops of that cold water hitting a 1500* exhaust valve, that isn't Inconel, and you are in for a bad day.
