rev limiter help...again?
I installed my rev limiters last week and I am having some problems with them.
My engines normally run 5200 rpms@WOT after I put the 5000rpm chips in my rev limiters I can only get 4500rpms @WOT Anybody have any ideas of what might be wrong? |
I'm assuming they're MSD's. I've had some bleed problems where they start to mis-fire before the actual RPM setting.
Try a couple different 5000 chips. If that doesn't work, put some 5400's in it |
Yes they are MSD on Thunderbolt 4 ignitions, I tried the 5800 chips and they only give me another hundred RPMS. I called tech support at MSD and they are stumped. I know that they are hooked up right, This kind of pisses me off because I paid a few hundred bucks for theese things and they dont even work right:mad:

You got me wondering why your rev limiter has chips in it. The one recommended to me from MSD for the t bolt 4 ignition system is part # 5468 and is adjusted with a control knob not chips. Do I have the wrong one ?

Hey Bo...what model is yours, also does it work like it should? I may have the wrong ones:confused:
|
I just got it and haven't installed it yet. I think i'm going to do a little more research on it first. Look on MSD"s web site. The one I bought is # 5468 and was recommended by their tech line. Let me know how you make out. Thanks.

Bo I tried all different chips I had from 5000rpms to 8000rpms and the dam things would still only give me 4500 Ime going to talk to a few more people and if I cant get them to work Ime going to send them back and try something else.
