Better of the Two Drive Showers
Quick question - I have a Scarab 22 with an Alpha Drive and am looking to buy a drive shower. I have narrowed it down to two different ones and don't know which one i should go with. Simrek's Summit Max seems to be a good option. Also, the Hydro Cool II seems to be great option as well. Two totally different styles And about the same price. Any advice would be appreciated - thanks in advance!

Simrek. Paul (owner) is always doing research and updating and improving his models.

Thanks for your input. Do you know if he gives discounts to OSO members?
I loved the Simrek Summit I had on the last boat. It worked excellent!
I do not know if he gives discounts to OSO members. You'll have to ask.
I am laughing my ass off at the summit video. While it is a good and informative vid, you would think they would have used a gopro instead of having a guy stand on the back of a moving boat while leaning over to video the drive. LOL! I like and have the summit halo cooler as well
Thanks for all the input - seems that the Simrek is the preferred option. I'll be ordering today...thanks again!
Order placed!
Did you ask about the OSO discount??? I need one too!
He told me a while back that there was a group buy option. But I can't remember how many needed to be in the group. I might be up for 2 if others want to get in.
depends on how much. I have IMCO steering, so not sure if they have one that works with the front panel that has the attachment points like below:
But if so i would need 2 as well possibly. http://www.performanceboats.com/atta...1&d=1350603859 this is my set up http://www.flagshipengine.com/catalo...20triangle.jpg |
I'm in if we can get enough to make his work!

Paul sent me this in January.....
If you can get a commitment for 10 pieces or more (Summits for the Alphas and Halos for the Bravo Drives), I can offer them at $139.95 for the Halo and $134.95 for the Summits, plus free shipping. |
don't know which is better I have the simreks for Bravo and am happy with them, done oil analysis at blackstone and no evidence of overheated gear lube.
Mittens,
I have the same set up, and I am running Simrek Halos. Paul is a stand up guy, good to do business with. |

Thanks for the pics! But thats the problem. My IMCO front cover on the top of the drive is where my haydrolic rams connect. will try and find a better picture of what i a dealing with. but the halos cant come around the front of the top of the drive. this is dark but my exact boat, see how the rams, and the tie bar is connect to the front cover on the top of the drive. http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...93088766_n.jpg here is another shot: http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...23427782_n.jpg This is a standard bravo one. the halo would work on that. http://www.performanceboats.com/atta...1&d=1353446097 but when you change out that front plate (hold on with 2 bolts) with something like this. the halo cant go around the front of the drive http://amazement.com/hbpics/today4.jpg |
and by front you mean back :)
Ok so use the style like in the last picture, i had that style on my 28 Daytona from Eddie Marine I think, they also worked well but you have to drill a hole in the cav plate. |

I know IMCO makes one to fit, just was interested in these dual scoop halos. this is what they use, and you have to drill, single pick up and not a hard line. http://teaguecustommarine.com/media/...shower_kit.jpg |
Count me in as well, I have an 87 Scarab iii 34'; been waiting to pull the trigger and ready to go
need a pair for alpha one drives
drive showers
Need one for a bravo one. Halo edition, I think it was called. Let me know when you get ten rounded up. Should build my own at my shop, but lot nicer to just bolt them on and head for the lakes.
We got our order in, and recieved it the next day. I didn't realize he's here in Fl. Even paying taxes it was a great deal,,thanks Paul and OSO!
I'm liking the Halo Max for my Bravo IIIs.
Will they work with a saddle mount for an external tie-bar like on the Eddie Marine unit? |
