It handles perfectly and feels 110% safe at these speeds so a few more MPH wouldn't hurt.

it isn't a function of engine type. it is a function of mechanical clearences. you need to talk to the builder and se what he used. if he used the factory clearences then you are , essentially locked into what the factory reccomended. if he tightened them up up can use a hi grade thinner synthetic. if he opened them up you may very well be locked into a heavier single grade like a 40 or 50. it is all defined by the clearences.

Tomas, give the guys a shout at Alisyn Oil. They've got some great products, including a zero weight gear oil among several other types of oil and lubricants.
We used to run the zero weight in the outboard drag boats to help get the last little bit out. Crazy stuff, because it's got the consistency of water! Nascar guys use similar in the rear ends of their cars from what I understand too.

It's a stock 496 Mag HO so I guess 40 will work since Merc sells 25W40 for there Sterndrive motors.
