Bravo coupler help
1 Attachment(s)
when do you know when a coupler is bad???
boat has 110 hours,,alignment is right on,,outdrive pulled out ok,,looks like it was never greased,,,cleaned splines,,teeth are still square, teeth might look slightly smaller than a new coupler,,installed a test drive shaft and has slight play side to side which I would think its somewhat normal,, I have no problem with replacing it but not sure its worth the trouble at this time,, hard to really take a good picture |
Looks good to me. Grease it and go. I've seen them worse.

Looks okay, careful not to overgrease it when you go back together.

fixx
they are bad when the tip of the v part has a sharp edge..i would first clean the splines, this will make the coupler last longer if you can get all the matallic looking (silverish grey) grease out and use the heavy merc coupler grease in..dont just use regular grease,,it had not impact rating and will ooze out and merc coupler grease wont..
|
^^^ I always use the blue Merc coupler grease.
|
Thanks guys,,,
