Bringing my new to me boat home this weekend (33OL!!)
I have 454 mags mpis and will need to address cool fuel/vapor lock issues and I WILL have... I put the $300 pump on my last 454 mag mpi but don't want to spend that when I can possibly add a return line (per Mr Eddie Young who graciously explained how to add bung with bulkhead plate/fitting or splice into fuel fill)!! what are these lines.. Assume the 1 pic (2 lines, 1 big 1 small) thought it was pickup and vent, then found pic of another?? pic 2 is 2 small lines and open bung(??) and sending unit :) Can i use the open bung for my 2 return lines?? thanks guys! excited.. I leave in just over an hour to drive 1000 miles to VA to get my boat!:bunnydance: |
I would not dump the fuel back in right by the pick up... Could have a aeration issue

I have the same set up, first pic is fill & vent, second pic is fuel pickups and one empty bung, you dont have much option if you dont want to weld in another fitting, maybe Eddie could answer your Q
I think you would be fine hooking to the empty fitting |

Thanks.... I just got off the phone with him.. I figured.. crap.. I don't want any issues so I went ahead and called him. Eddie said to run both returns there and I would be good!!! also mentioned even if it had a long pickup on that bung, it would be fine!!! hated to call him again, but once I found this pic... had to figure it out :) :thankyouthankyou: |
good luck and congrats on the new 33, I've had mine for 2 years, putting two new 540's in about 3 weeks

I think the reason for three fittings is that back in the day Baja had a trip engine model and this tank was used for both applications, but dunno for sure

That big hose is your fill , and little is vent in the one pic. Other pic is feeds. I have my return in the same spot(near pick up) and its fine.

My guess would have been for a gen set...as far as a return line I have seen some fittings you can add to the fuel fill line....check it out:

Not sure what HP you have. If you upgraded the motors/pumps but I had to drill my Pick up hole (single engine) out and tap, might of did my return too. I did it like 8 years ago and forgot if I did return hole. I did it due to recomendations of the fuel pump maker and bigger engine. Also made a bigger pick up tube. FYI should be a check valve in that elbow which can restrict flow.

The fitting that screwed into the elbow had the valve on my 25 ol, but I will check.. thanks |
I changed all my lines to meet the size requirements. Aeromotive pump, regulator, filters (before and after pump), check valve, hoses and fittings I was somewhere around 1k. And this was a single engine.
