SmartCraft SC1000 gauges

I was wondering if anyone successfully got the NMEA 0183 input to work on their SmartCraft SC1000 Speedo to read speed and time of day. If so how did you do it? Does anyone know of a SmartCraft expert that can answer general questions?

Several years ago, I called Merc's main number and ended up getting connected to someone that assisted me with my SmartCraft issues.
