Well. I broke something. Removed the drive, everything is good. Hose is open, clean, all the way to the other hose end to go on the impeller housing. So.. I stuff a hose into the gimble where the raw water goes into the Suction hose, start the motor, pop, smash, something broke. It sounded like a driveshaft splitting in half. Summer project now. complete tear down to see what the hell happened.
I can turn the motor by hand, hard but not seized up. Starter removed, sounds, looks ok. ???????????? :( |
Woo.. Hooo. I got it all figured out.. Nothing broke... nothing wrong.. good to go... everything is fixed and ok.

Parts of an impeller is a big cause of poor flow. The little pieces clog the coolers reducing flow. Back flushing will not get them all out.

The problem is, I don't know what was it. THe noise I heard thinking I broke something was the starter, it snapped or? Put in a new starter and things were ok. After I removed the drive, I put t hose into the gimble inlet, gravity feed, no pressure and water flow was ok. Cleaned the drive, blow out all the holes, and now I got ok flow. Engine is cooling. I'm not sure about the shift linkage, the claws closed ok, but my neutral and forward, reverse are not in the same place as it was. I might have to adjust the linkage at the manifold. So after all the work, I didn't learn ****.
