496 supercharged - oil type?

I have a 496 ho with a whipple. I am running the stock pistons which I have read is the weak link. I would like to run the best oil I can with this set up. Do I run synthetic or the merc racing oil? What weight? I have heard royal purple xpr or amzoil racing oil would provide the best protection. Any advice on oil type or weight with this set up?

I had the same setup blew a piston. I would concern myself more with higher octane fuel and no more than 4 psi of boost. Any good quality multi weight if changed every twenty hours will work.
