Just bought this pan for my 502 project. What is this bracket for on he front of the pan?

i believe it was for the SSM sea pump bracket on the older sc engines..

I Use it to mount my steering cooler

It's actually for the alternator tensioner, if needed. It was used on some vee belt applications. However, it can be used for any number of things like fuel pump mount, etc.
