Pistons.......... Not even JE can help.
OK, so i called up JE and received 3 different answers as to what pistons i need for my build.
Gen 6 502. Boring it 30 over. so 4.500 Bore. but they have given me 3 different part numbers and i would really like some help as to which ones. http://www.summitracing.com/search/m...re-in/4-500-in Not sure which rod length and other specs. I want to keep compression as close to stock as possible. |
Stock rod length is 6.135 and stroke is 4.00, pick what kinda top you want (Flat top, mini dome, inverted dome etc) and go from there.
I would go with flat tops if under 10 psi of boost, stock had tiny mini domes and inverted dome if 12-14 psi is in your future, Smitty |
You sir, Are the man! Thank you!

These are the small domes, should put you in the 9:0:1 to 9.25 range depending on deck height, gasket thickness, chamber size, etc. In general, this is a good piston for a N/A marine engine with iron head. Don't know what you're trying to build though,

Went with these. with these rings. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/jep-j10008-45005 Its a 10 PSI procharged build. |
another good piston which is made by j&e is srp..i use them al the time, you dont want a mini dome,,it will give 10.4 to 1 compression with a 118cc iron head..thease will give you 9.1 compression..
