Bimini top suggestions

Hey guys, as much as I hate to do it, I need to install a Bimini. We just had a baby boy 6 wks ago. So, if I want a shot on the lake this year, it's probably a must!

What do you shade lovers suggest on a cool looking and durable Bimini? I have a Lavey Craft, so wanting something that will look sleek and not real tall? Thanks in advance.

Go to overtons website you can custom order it the way you want, height, length, width, color, frame material, ect. I would suggest sunbrella with an aluminum frame, just high enough walk around under it. If you get the quick connect deck mounts then its real easy to take it on and off the boat.

No "cool" looking Bimini top on a sport boat. They look like sh@t even at anchor. But do what you need to get on the lake and get that youngster learning about boats.

True, they do take away from the sleek lines of a performance boat, but they sure are nice when you are tired of being roasted. I have zip-in side curtains for mine from the days when we used to overnight in a cove - that is real nice when a thunderstorm pops up out of nowhere. Was down at Lake Cumberland in Harmon Creek a few years ago when a hail storm hit. Felt a little sorry for all the guys on their go-fasts when the hail started raining down on them, while I watched from my "tent" with a cold beer in my hand. :) Can't have it all, I guess!

Just installed a custom bimini from these guys on my 35 formula. Have run it up to 65 with no problem. Stainless frame, low profile. Built to my specs. Cost around $500. Sunbrella fabric. The major vendors don't do low profile.

Here is my 292 with the factory installed bimini. I also got the enclosures for camping. May not be really cool looking, but sure is practical. Keeps the bugs out and makes the wife happy!:)

$300

We had the same enclosure made like 4mulafastechs, its not about looks its about spending as much time on your boat as you can. I have to laugh when I see the hard core go fast guys that talk crap about how ugly these tops look sitting in the rain or climbing under a wet cockpit cover getting to there cabins. But were not like most fair weather boaters we are there every weekend rain or shine.

Go with custom made stainless for sure.

I am far from a fair weather boater. When it rains and I'm anchored, I have a cabin for that. Thunderstorms blow through everyday. I drive mine in the rain. No big deal. I personally don't like Bimini tops on sportboats. Thankfully my wife is in agreement so I have no worries there. I will die of skin cancer as I love being in the sun. Most of the time I'm out we go anchor up and swim a lot.
