damn porposing!!!!!!????????

I have a baja 21 foot that runs 74 mph so far. I have tried several props.. B1s run to much tramsom lift but accell. great and handle great but runs only 68 mph. The trophy 4 blade runs 69.5 but doesnt accell as good as the b1. The lazer runs 74 but if i trim to max speed it porposes a lot which seems like its holding me back , if i trim it down its too wet and slows down. Im soooo close to cracking 75 i can smell it. Do you think a mirage will work?
thanks sj

I have seen lots of Baja's running the Mirage Plus props. Give one a try.

Gotta... I checked and i dont think there is a hook on this thing. My speeds are all gps.

I ran a 4 blade spinelli on my 93 Bandit that really helped with the porposing vs the 25 mirage that was on it. A 2" short shaft Bravo would likely help stop your porposing as well.

Gotta.... There is just a flat area 3 inches wide the runs the length of the boat , dbl cable steering , max hp is at 5400 modded 502 , no trim tabs. Thanks for the help guys

MitchStellin 07-31-2002 12:24 PM

I would start with tabs. A little down force should stop your problem. Try weight in the front. That might help also.

I run a 21' (97) Baja and have found the Mirage to work well. The reason I am saying this is because I tried a laser II and it slipped like mad. Give a Mirage a try....Good Luck.

Brad Perry 08-01-2002 09:45 AM

Oh and by the way, Look at the two outermost chines on that boat and I'll bet you see some hook in the last eight inches or so. This is out of the water at speed, but Baja says it is still subjected to "soft water". I think they mean water that is coming off of other parts of the hull, i.e., non solid spray..

Arneson rocker plates! They’re $$$ if you think of them in terms of just trim tabs. But you have to look at the added length you’ll get. And at 70mph+ in a 21’ boat you could use it. Arneson Rocker Plates

that arenson website is sick!

stevejohns 08-01-2002 01:22 PM

D_Casten 08-01-2002 02:02 PM

About $3,000 after you get indicators and switches.http://ballscasten.com/700dock/700/719/plate_2.jpg

HOLY CRAP!!
1/2 way to a blower !!

Treadwellmotorsports 08-03-2002 03:51 AM

low cost way to stop porpasing is thro sand bags in the bow. start with fifty punds and go from there

I dont what to sound negative, but safety first...

I went directly to a Procharger in a 21' Cole which
put me at 82mph. Like the earlier post, scared the
crap out of me with the Chine Walk and loose steering.
I added dual external steering (WPM) and the handling
changed overnight. They say that anything over 70mph
needs this steering. I still have about 1100rpms before the
redline but with the steering control, I can now trim it out
more.

The reason I say this, is that the stability helps to
control the handling of boat allowing the boat be trimmed
out farther getting the speed and closer to your redline.

my .02..... :D

stevejohns 08-03-2002 04:06 PM

You are at 82 with 1100 left??????? Very nice !! I was thinking of a steering stabilizer setup. Will that help? Thanks sj
