Best Gen. For a 496 Stroker Gen 4 or Gen 6
Thinking about building some 496 stroker motors, what would be the best blocks to use gen 4 or gen 6?

Mark IV bowtie

Is the Pantera getting some bigger motors?

Even though gen 6 isn't as thick as mark 4 bowtie .,i'd use the 6 because it is already roller cam ready...mwao

I wouldn't hesitate to use a Mark IV production block for a 550-600hp build. Biggest issue is having a GOOD core to work with. Stay away from used marine blocks that been raw water cooled. Last year I picked up a mint, standard bore 4 bolt main Mark IV production block from a car off craigslist for 300 bucks. This block was mint. Absolutley no corrosion whatsoever in the water jackets, never been cut/hacked on. The fact the Gen VI blocks having been factory with a roller, really isn't a big deal, since chances are you're not gonna run the factory lifters, or cam anyway.

i would use dart 10.200 blocks..put a 4.500 stroke in it and have a nice day!..lets face it your build engines for more power and torque..sell your existing engines as completes..if you dont have the money rite now for new blocks then older tall deck truck blocks will work gr8..a set of 525's cid will give you a easy 650 hp..BTW you have to buy crank's rods and pistons anyways so you may as well and spend a few hundred more per engine and get more cubic inch's..
