Valve adjustment procedure

Hi I was wondering which way is the easiest to adjust the valves with the intakes on.
I was using this way . Is this ok. .I have a mild crane cam 531 lift 234 duration 114 lope
This is Mercruiser's way of adjusting
0 deg TDC, Firing @ #1

Adjust the #1 exhaust valve
Adjust the #1 intake valve
Adjust the #3 exhaust valve
Adjust the #5 intake valve
Adjust the #7 intake valve
Adjust the #2 intake valve
Adjust the #4 exhaust valve
Adjust the #8 exhaust valve
Now rotate the engine 360 degrees. The mark
on the balancer should be back at the TDC
mark. Keep in mind that this is not the TDC
where #1 would be firing! It's where #6 would
fire.
Adjust the #3 intake valve
Adjust the #5 exhaust valve
Adjust the #7 exhaust valve
Adjust the #2 exhaust valve
Adjust the #4 intake valve
Adjust the #6 exhaust valve
Adjust the #6 intake valve
Adjust the #8 intake valve

What do you think?

When the intake valve starts to open adjust the exhaust valve on that cylinder. Then when the exhaust valve is all the way open and starts to close adjust the intake valve on that cylinder.

Thanks, I have read that way of adjusting them. It that with the intake manifold on or off

Think that's supposed to be eoic exhaust opening =set intake ....intake closing =set exhaust. It's easier with intake off because you have more pushrod to spin ,but certainly can be done with intake on
Another way is to just go through the firing order start at #1 compression and every 1/4 turn of the crank set the next cylinder in the firing order. Two turns of crank and all done

Please be advised this is not correct you may have been confused when writing the procedure. The correct and proper procedure is as follows.
1 When the exhaust valve starts to open adjust the intake valve for that cylinder.
2 when the intake valve starts to close adjust the exhaust valve for that cylinder.
It is easy to word it backwards but follow this and you will be Ok. You dont need to follow any particular order start in the front of either side and work your way back. I personally like to do so in firing order sequence, but its not important. Best of luck sincerely Laz Mesa

There are so many ways, when the intakes are on its hard to do some of the intake valves because you cannot get your fingers into spin the pushrod.
How about adjusting them running?? I have a cut open set of covers. I was told this is the best way to adjustment them. Just a thought

You are correct, I should of checked to make sure I was right before I posted that information. It's been a while since I have done it.
