502 mpi mag change to carb help!
I'm sure it has been asked 100 times but been thinking of pulling the fuel inj. Off and going intake and carb can someone help me on wiring etc. and the color of the wires to use and sort, to hook up msd box so everything works, or should I just bypass everything and hook it up straight to box?
It's a 96 mpi mag freshend to 509 with about 40 hrs on it now if it matters, and I'm not sure if ill gain anything out of it but I would raither not butcher anything up in case I have to or decide later to put it all back the way it was! With this all said, opinions please! My goal would be to add these iteams because its what I have laying around I'm a drag racer also! Dominator 950 carb or 1050 have both (both dominators) Super victor intake with matching spacer dominator flange! MSD dist. (Also have crab cap style with crank trigger!) MSD box! 6al or digital 6? (Have both) Crain gold roller rockers! Boat has EMI Thunder with riser now! |
Sorry ment to put this in General Q and A

From what I understand there's a couple ways to do it. I have a 98 and just bought a thunderbolt iv wiring harness and distributor and that's all it took. Was nice to get rid of all that weight and mess of wiring.

Also, those carbs you have are way too big. You need an 800cfm-850cfm. |
Well Thanks for all the input so far!! What would be the best way that way if I did to go back I could with ease? The thunderbolt iv way? If so where can I get this wiring harness? Thanks guys

Also is there room for power increases with this set up or any gains? not looking for a lot but the main reasoning of doing all this is because 1, I have it, 2, looks, and last but not least, I don't know a hole lot about this fuel inj.

If you have a stock engine, you will gain nothing by switching to carbed set up and you'll use more fuel.

Also can some direct me to a sight or tell me the wire color codes for this thanks for all help!! |
Just woundering why would you want to spend this much money for minimal gains?
|
I see no good reason to go thru this, UNLESS, you are going to install a bigger cam, and spin the engine up higher. Which then you'll see some gains. But with the stock cam in that engine, its just not worth messing with. You may even go slower.
