1995 Formula SR1 has low compression - South Jersey
 

Hi,

The efi 454 385hp that is in my 1995 Formula 271 sr1 has low compression. I am only turning 3900-4000rpm with a bravo 1 drive and 21p mirage prop. The compression results showed 55 psi in number 4 and the other seven had between 100-105. Looking for options to have the engine rebuilt, does anyone know a good engine rebuilder in Southern New Jersey or close by? Trying to weigh different cost options on how to get this boat back up to 100%.

Just buy a long block ready to go. Your fastest and most cost effective route to go

Make sure you are not just leaking around a valve... You might get lucky and just have to send the head out

Also do a leak down test. You could also have a valve issue. Pull the heads an inspect the valves. valve seats and cylindera walls first
