Leaking Bravo Steering Ram

LOOKING TOWARDS THE TRANSOM OF THE BOAT AT THE STEERING CYLINDER TO THE VERY LEFT SIDE OF THE CYLINDER CASTING AND ON THE BOTTOM SIDE THERE IS A SMALL BOSS IN THE CASTING.I HAVE A SMALL LEAK FROM THIS AREA.IT IS VERRY HARD TO SEE IF THIS IS A PLUG OR A BREATHER HOLE.IF IT IS A BREATHER HOLE I WOULD ASSUME THE CYLINDER IS LEAKING INTERNALY INTO A BREATHER CAVITY.I'M HOPING IT IS A LOOSE PLUG.IF ANY ONE HAS ANY EXPERIANCE I WOULD APPRECIATE IT.REPAIRS OF THIS NATUR ARE SECOND HAND TO ME AS I WORK IN THE HYDRAULIC REPAIR INDUSTRY.I AM NOT HAVING TO ADD ANY MEASURABLE AMOUNT OF OIL,IT'S JUST THE BILGE MESS I DON'T LIKE.IDEALLY I WOULD LIKE TO MILK THIS FOR A FEW MONTHS AND DEAL WITH IT OVER THE WINTER AS I KNOW REMOVING THE CYLINDER LOOKS LIKE A DOG OF A JOB WITH THE ENGINE IN.

hydraulic steering cylinder oil leak

Harrison
Clean the area off with some brake cleaner with a couple of rags under it to catch the oil run off.
Get a two or three inch mirror and a strong mag light.
Shine the light under the cylinder while the boat is running have someone move the steering from side to side.
The leak should be visible now.
Good Luck
Post your findings
Thanks
