Bravo 1 Drive
What gear oil to use? Going to drain and put new in next weekend. Also, I see alot of people are using a garden sprayer for this. Where can I buy the attachments to hook the hose up to bottom of the drive to pump oil in?
Thanks, Blake |
i use the synthetic merc lower unit lube. Its the blue stuff. I bought my lower unit pump from walmart for like $6.

I like the merc hp gear lube as well. I also agree with Ggoing Bigger that if you are only doing a couple oil changes a year the $6 pump that screws on the quart bottle is fine. Otherwise diamond performance Bill had a really nice garden sprayer type I saw.

I would contact the guys at the bravo shop. There gear oil is suppose to be amazing! You can call and speak with them about there product! There is some good reading on there forum about it aswell !

i like the amsoil marine gear lube, fully synthetic and cheeper than the merc hp lube.

I've always had good luck wth the Merc/Quicksilver High Performance Gerar Lube. (It's not synthetic though)
Walmart seems to have the best price on it too. Last time it was either $10.99 or $11.99 a quart. ;) |
just get the merc/quick silver HP bottle, should be grey with a yellow label(i think) West marine, walmart should have it. Otherwise if your not in a hurry and can wait a few days I always get mine from gander mountain online, its the cheapest and free shipping, usually to my door in 3 days

I use Amsoil Universal Marine Gear Lube
True marine gear performance. Provides superior protection from shock loading. Resists foam and retains extreme-pressure qualities even when subjected to 10% water contamination. For use in outboard lower units, sterndrives, V-drives, bow and tunnel thrusters and marine transmissions Excellent for use in ATVs. Cheaper than Mercury also |
