Default Switching from omc to merc, how hard is it?

I'm looking at a boat with an omc cobra drive and would most likely switch to merc. Probably will go bravo if indo the swap. What all is entailed in the swap? Are the holes in the transom the same? Do the wiring harnesses interchange?

I believe the transom hole will need to be filled and re-cut.

cut outs are the same, will need to drill 2 more holes for bravo. Shifter won't work as a cobra shifter going into forward will put a merc in reverse (you could probably mod this, not sure), I don't remember on the harness, last one I helped with was a full take out (all wiring harness to dash, shifter, engine, drive etc.)

If it's the one with the square boot on the transom the only drive that I know will cover the hole is a Volvo 290 transom shield. But still may have to do some filling to cover the Volvo shield's seal. Depends on how bad they cut the hole out. I also used the hole for the steering cable for one of the 2 thru hull exhaust ports.

You can see what I did in this movie a minute or so into it.
