Cleaning vinyl?
Can anyone recommend a good cleaner to clean white vinyl seats and sun pad? I tried black streak remover, Attwood vinyl cleaner and Soft Scrub. The first two didn't do much. Soft Scrub did remove some of the strains but not everything.

I use Spray Nine marine with great results.

Spray 9 with mr clean magic eraser. Usually go over it with 303 protectant when done to get the uv protection back.

I have amazing results with "awesome orange" and a green "scotch-brite"scrub pad. It gets out grease, oil, mold, mildew, and other stains. Others have good luck with "simple green" or a "mr clean magic eraser." No matter what you use to clean it make sure you treat it with a good vinyl protectant after to seal it. I use "303" marine vinyl protectant, a little pricey but it is good quality stuff and cost is offset by the dollar bottles of the cleaner. Hope this helps I am sure others with chime in there are hundreds of posts about this use the search tool.

Magic eraser and a oxycleaner and elbow grease.

Manic eraser will rot your tread away.... Use it sparingly
|
Thanks for all the suggestions!

Is the Mr. Clean magic eraser safe to use on the colored vinyl as well? ie: the blue fountain logo stitched into my sunpad?
|
I use manic eraser to clean mine followed up with 303.
My vinyl is white with alot of bright yellow and blue. I clean them just the same as the white. Never noticed any fading or discoloration. |
Gojo orange pumice hand cleaner will clean any stain or grime off of vinyl. Won't eat the material either... But be careful around the white thread. It'll tinge it orange if you get enough on there. Then treat with 303. I've had great results with it. Gotta do some rubbing but it works. No pun intended

Today I used Spray Nine ( not marine version) with magic erasure. Worked great! Then I put on Attwood vinyl cleaner and conditioner. The erasure left the vinyl dull. The Attwood left the vinyl shiny and slick to the touch.
I used the erasure on both with and blue vinyl. No issues at all. Thanks again! |
The best stuff I have ever used VINYL SAUCE AND A MAGIC ERASER. I use the Target brand Magic Eraser they work better than the name brand.

+1 for the magic eraser and simple green. I lightly buff the vinyl with little pressure, and then use vinyl conditioner to finish off. My interior is white with a other colors as well.

Not so much for stains but for normal cleaning I like Murphys Oil Soap and a microfiber cloth.

Sea Tow had a bunch of StarBrite coupons so I bought a few products. My center console sits out on a lift, no tops allowed. It had mildew on the seat and around the console in the sealer almost since new. The Mildew remover did nothing. Spayed a bit more, the liquid turned a bit brown but not much happened. Not much happened... Not much happened, rubbing didn't seem to help. Moved on to a different spot then went back to where I started. All the mildew was gone! Magic It really worked. Tried it on the non slip too. Just wait for it and it works.
The Boat Guard spray and wax detailer sucks. It leaves a film that is hard to remove. F |
I'm not a pro but been using castrol super clean on all my white vinyl. It works great gets all the grim and oil crap off after I work on engine. After I use it I wash or wipe thorghly with clean water. I've used it with two boats over the last 15 years with no visibile of physical side effects. Just my opinion, need an interior guy to really answer this!
