Hp500 with stock mercruiser manifolds?

Can you put mercruiseranufolds on a hp 500 blue motor?
Just worried about reversion

My manifolds have the silent choice option and would like to keep them if possible

I would use the 496 dry joint style.... Much better flow and can be found pretty cheap. Stock exhaust is barely adequate for a stock engine.......TBF

I wouldn't put the stock manifolds unless they are the factory GIL with the tail risers..it will revert with stock manifolds...

Yeah that's what I thought...a guy I talked to said it would be fine but I don't trust it

Do it right and get some CMI. The factory Gills used to get reversion.

tdpb2008 08-11-2013 07:53 PM

I'd love to get some cmi's that would be the ticket but there very expensive

But like the old saying goes "you get what you pay for"

POWERPLAY J 08-11-2013 08:05 PM

Budget? You can find nice used fresh water sets at a good price compared to new.

the 496 manifolds have a taller elbow, the Corsa might not fit

Even the Merc/Gil exhaust had reversion issues at idle on the carbed HP500 until the changed the risers and made them taller.
Neither the stock Merc cast iron manifolds nor the 496 exhaust will work.
They will both revert water at idle due to the 110 lob sep on the HP500 cam.
