Fed up with MSD and Accel, what other options?

Been running MSD 6AL boxes on the boat for two years and I am on my 4th box. I run Accel super coils and I am on my 5th coil! Everything is rubber isolated so I am not sure what is going on!

Thinking of making a switch, what other options? What about Jacob Electronics? Anybody running there stuff?

Thanks
Jim

I bought a couple of used Crane HI-6M boxes a couple years ago and couldn't be happier.
Thunderbolt distributor and Crane LX92 coil. Bunch of different preset timing curves, timing
retardation and I am going to hook up a knock sensor.

I think Daytona Sensors make it now. Brace yourself I think they are pretty proud of them $$$.

Daytona Sensors

Jim,

Daytona Sensors is in a class by itself, it's marine system is the most competent product in the industry today. There is exceptional value in their product line, more-so than buying cheap twice.

+3 on daytona sensors,,the guys beat me to it..you want part # 103003 and 103004 ignition rotor to work with a merc dist..or you will need to use your mds,,lock it out,you will need a dist cap and drill a 1/2'' hole by #1 to phase the dist..

Why not just go back to a thunderbolt 4 and MSD blaster coil. I have this setup on my 502 that is .60 over and "650hp" and I run to 6200rpm and I have not had a single hick-up or failure with my ignition and I run the new hall pickup sensor in the distributor and it idles fine and has 12 degrees of initial timing in it for a total of 36 degrees. Starts immediately when cold, hot, warm does not matter. This even starts better than my old 454 330hp that this current motor replaced.

My boat does 90 on gps spinning a 30 bravo1. So the ignition is doing its job.

I run a pair Davis set up for me on my SBC Vortec Roller motors...flawless performance...simple design.

I put a D.U.I distributor in the 509 I just built and it works good. Being an hei set up the only thing to go bad is the module & even gm didn't have too many problems with that. Randy

As far as the money is concerned on the Daytona Sensors you have to understand their unit is more comparable in performance to a MSD 7AL rather than a 6 AL. So it is more money than a 6 but less than a 7. It also is capable of performing more functions
