anyone bored, how about a little lesson on hulls
What are the terms, and how do these effect the ride/speed/etc.
hook pad pod X dim others?? how does one actually change the hull to alter the characteristics of an existing design? |
X dimension is how far the center line of you engine crank is from the keel of your hull. I also think it can be mesured from the center of the propshaft to the keel.
It relates to how close your props are from the surface thus providing more bow lift or stern lift. |
How about "hook", that is the one I really would like to know what it refers too.
|
Hook cause the transom to rasie & bow to lower. If you put a straight edge on back 6' of boat botton you will be able to see daylight in middle of straight edge. Some boat when you put straight edge against botton of the hull the hull will be straight.
Oposite of Hook is rocker, this cause the bow to lift. With straight edge on bottom of hull you will see daylight at back part by transom |
actually it......???
know hydrodynamics???....take a spoon (rocker side) and hold in under the faucet on the outside of the stream. hold the shaft with your thumb and forefinger to allow it to pivot freely...does it bounce off??? what does it do?? |
how about CF???...everyone knows CG???...nah,,,i'm very lazy today:(
|
Keep talking Audacity I’d like to hear more. CF?? CG??? I have no idea what that is. Force & Gravity????
The rocker and spoon trick demonstrates the same as an airplane wing. Because the surface is curved it creates a low-pressure area, pulling (or lifting with a wing) the spoon under the water. Bow lift with rocker is only a result of lowering the transom????? Correct? |
you da man!!!:D ...CF =center of force...CG=center of gravity
|
Ok how do they apply? I’ve added Arneson rockers to our boat after cutting the hook from the hull. Trying to leave the drive straighter and use the rocker but not having much success. I’m guessing I have problems with weight distribution.
