Thermostat vs no thermostat 540 cid Procharger engine

I have a 540 cubic inch engine with an m4-sc procharger i currently run with a thermostat and wonder if it is not a good idea to run with out one.

please let me know your thoughts on this topic, running a high output engine without a thermostat.

Thanks in advance.

Need to talk to your engine builder and see how it was built, if clearances were set for the block to be at 170* or 140*

procharger does not want a thermostat used per their instructions...

as with any supercharged engine, heat is your enemy,it promotes detonation.i like to see water temp around 120 deg on supercharged engines, espically if they have iorn heads.

Efi or carbed? Procharger manages to squeeze max hp out of pump gas marine set-ups by preventing detonation by keeping everything as cool as possible, I would think going up to 170 dgrees vs 100-120 would limit the boost you could run by 2 lbs or more on same octane, Smitty
