Mercruiser bravo 1 coupler horsepower limit?

Curious how much horsepower a stock Mercruiser Bravo 1 V8 drive coupler can take? When is it wise to upgrade to an HP unit?

There are 3 types of Merc couplers.

Aluminum center/splines
Steel center/splines
Steel center/splines with long snout.

Really, any of them can handle any power you would put into Bravo style drive as long as they are kept greased.
