1990 35 cafe.. Anyone know of this boat? Thoughts on it?

What should I be watching out for on the 90's cafés?

Thanks

Looks pretty clean. At the top of the price scale. Where is the power steering belt?

COOPS 11-06-2013 08:58 PM

I noticed the belt missing also.

Watch out for any wood rot, transom, stringers, etc. Id also look at the drives. 700's in a 35 Cafe, will be hard on those

Drock78 11-07-2013 04:58 AM

The nicest Cafe on the market IMO http://www.powerboatlistings.com/view/20756

COOPS 11-07-2013 05:52 AM

Drock78 and FIXX

I have seen that boat and have it as my screen saver for a year at work!

I just worry about blower motors and the up keep.

Full Force 11-07-2013 07:11 AM

That was a buddy of mines boat he sold it 2-3 years ago, it was solid hull then should be now.... he spent lots of coin building g them engines, runs good..not sure what it ran after builds cant remember... he didn't mind spending money on it...

to spend north of 60k on a cafe it better have something stronger than bravo's hanging off the back. Rebarbox's cafe would be the only one i would consider in that price range. it comes with a spare set of 3's and has brad smith power in it. nuff said there. the only other cafe i would be looking at with big power is the one in tulsa oklahoma. it has nice power and speedmasters. goofy paint but nice race hatch on it and nice trailer for 40kish.

pm me if you would like his phone number

Here is a picture of my 1986 Cigarette Cafe that I may be interested in selling. It has freshened 502's, TRS drives, and it was updated in early 2000. Let me know if you are interested.

My buddy Randy built that boat. That thing is still one of my favorites super clean and timeless paint imo.

COOPS 11-07-2013 03:31 PM

That is a beautiful paint job!

Full Force 11-07-2013 06:40 PM

I would not be too confident on th 700's and Bravos in a Cig... im at 600 with TRS and gonna see how they last lol

If you're easy on the drives there have been a number of people with that power and no drive problems. Longevity is up to your right hand.

Any boat that age should be checked for rot obviously but stringer and transom rot is unheard of in cafés with the exception of a handful of early cafés where the tabs were misdrilled. There are certain people on here who bring that up like it was an epidemic problem.

You will LOVE a cafe, but unfortunately I don't think cafés are worth in the 50's anymore.

.

I don't know about you but I didn't buy my 35 Cig to be easy on it!!!! I know what your saying but lets face it, we buy these to beat on... not cruise around, well most anyway....

Nope - I don't beat on mine (my boat that is). LOTS of people on this website don't. Every poker run I have ever done has had a large percentage of people that cruise the entire run in the 50mph range.

Where were you earlier this year!! That is a fine cafe to bad I just got mine!!!

PROTOTYPE28 11-08-2013 03:38 PM

I have just been have thoughts of selling the cafe. I am in the mortgage industry and getting a little frustrated. I have not advertised it at all, but if someone is interested, I think I am willing to let it go.

I hear ya, I see that too, I am almost always over 4200-4500 and up... I seem to beat on mine as much as possible, just because I love the fun!!

Griff 11-09-2013 01:01 AM

Rebarbox's Cafe with the 90mph paint is even nicer in person than in the pics.

Mike vorthman 11-16-2013 09:20 PM

Watch for the crack in the hull I looked at that boat in august

COOPS 11-16-2013 10:50 PM
