Mercruiser Engine Component Coatings

Hello,

Is the black coating a paint or powder coat or ? On the exhaust manifolds and risers?

Can they be powder coated? Will it hold up?

Would ceramic coating be better?

Thanks in advance?

I had sime IMCO Powerflow's powder coated and it held up just fine.

Merc black engines exhaust is just painted. The Merc/Gil's were powdercoated.
Either one will hold up fine as long as they are prepped correctly.

+1 on what Griff said. Any coating is only as strong as its weakest link. Weakest link usually=poor prep.
