Oil for 496

What weight and type of oil are you guys running in the 496 HO motors?

I typically use the Merc reccomended 25W40, however, if that's not available a good quality straight weight 40 will be perfectly acceptable. That's what I've been running on my last two oil changes actually.

As a matter of fact, I see better recovery with the straight weight 40 oil. In other words, after a hard run, the oil pressure doesn't drop down quite as low as the 25W40 did when coming from WOT to cruise or below cruise.

Try Rotella, 15-40, great stufff.

Straight 40 is the way...

Every performance builder I have read has made this
recommendation, I'm sure we all have our preferences,
but I'm sticking with this one. .o2
