Lin,
I had an issue with it mold cropping up on (only one) of my cars in my toy box some time back. I found (at WalMart I think, in the camper section maybe?) and used this to clean it and deter it from coming back. It worked pretty well for me. It was not a pink mold, but it was light greyish-green. That's all I got... |
Quite possible that it is the result of suntan oil, instead of lotion.

How To Cleanup Pink Mold
The cleanup process is similar to the cleanup process for other types of mold. Start out by protecting yourself with the proper equipment, including goggles, gloves, and a mask approved for mold use. Be careful to not let the mold directly touch your skin. The affected area needs to be scrubbed down, and then thoroughly sanitized with a quality biocide to be sure that the organism is killed completely. If any traces of pink mold are left, the problem will remain because the spores will likely continue to grow in the affected area. You can prevent the growth by sanitizing the area, and also preventing the buildup of moisture. Use a fan, and wipe down wet surfaces to prevent the water from sitting after you are done boating. Also, this mold growth can be prevented by avoiding soap buildup on the surfaces affected. It is suspected that pink mold actually feeds on soap residue, so allowing the residue to sit may promote additional growth. |
