Stuck Float Switch
 

I came to pick up my 98' outlaw and heard a whining noise. Found out it was the bilge pump. I pulled the fuse so my battery wouldn't go dead, but there is about 2 inches of access to get to it under the engine. Any ideas on a fix? (A little scary running with no bilge pump!) I think the float switch must be stuck. Any help would be appreciated!!:confused: :)

raise the nose of the boat on the trailer. Leave the plug in. Disconnect the battery (or leave the fuse out of the pump).

Load the bilge with a heavy concentration of hot water and bilge cleaner (or Simple Green). Completely cover the pump and switch. Rock it back and forth for an hour with a buddy (you supply the beer).

Drain it out and go drive the boat trimmed up in whitecaps.

If that don't do it, you need a new switch.

Same thing happened to me in my 24 and I could not get to it so I cut the wires and capped them off going to the float so now it's just a manual pump

You need to take out your rear bench seat. You can have the seat out in 1 hour.

You don't even need to take out the whole seat. Just take off the bolts to the side curved cushions on both sides and the screws along the bottom of the seat(inside, under seat storage area). you should then be able to just slide the whole thing forward enough to get to the float switch.
