That depends on how the kill switch is wired. Mine cuts off all power and engines will not crank.

IMO, Sounds like a timing issue. Im a firm believer in a separate power switch just for ignition. I always crank mine over 2-3 revolutions get oil pressure then hit the ignition but im running high comp ratio locked timing & a lot of it. This is very common in most motorsports, also an extra safety feature. Really helps in hot start situation (racecars, mud trucks ect.)
