Drive height 89 Panther

Looking for some input from someone who has had experience with this or similar boat. Redoing transom and thinking raising drive height 1" over stock. I'm running a pair of 468 Blower motors with built Bravos. The gear cases are the newer 1990 "high speed" style. Running 28pitch Bravo One props.

1" is very conservative becsuse in 1988 most Preformance boats used the Mirage 3 blade that was just introduced. My thought is to use the Bravo 1 4-blade props and base line the prop shaft height in relation to the bottom of the boat. As long as you are doing some FG work, consider removing the built-in hook on the bottom that Wellcraft used. For a pro's input , start with Brett at BBLADES for the target prop shaft height and then use their prop test program. IMO, you are focused in an area that can give you a quantium leap in preformance...best value.

Hi Ben, thanks for responding. From the little I have read about your Panther and the few pics I have seen, I'm impressed! Yes, I'm planning on fixing the bottom. There is a very obvious hook in the last 4 feet or so of the starboard strake. The other side looks pretty good, but we are about to take the boat off the trailer next week to start glassing the transom and stringers back together. When the boat is on stands at the FG shop I'm going to inspect and straighten as much of the bottom as possible. I know it is worth the effort.
I have worked with Brett a little in the past on the prop for my 28 Excell, BBlades does a great job! I'll cal them and speak with them.

PM Blue Thunder. I believe he raised his X in his blown Bravo boat and now runs mid 90's.
