Worked perfect and could not have been easier.

Pretty cool

MissBehavin777 02-14-2014 11:10 AM

What did the wife say about stealing the mattress? Just kidding nicely done. Now figure out how to support the bow and you have a full rotisserie!

vintage chromoly 02-14-2014 11:37 AM

My rotisserie:

The transom bracket looks similar

Katanna 02-14-2014 02:10 PM

Great engineering to both. The scariest part of Brians was the stains on the mattress.

Sunrocket24 02-14-2014 03:42 PM

Nice work Brian!

thirdchildhood 02-14-2014 03:47 PM

We need a dub-step version. :)

yep its way easier working on them when the boat is on its side,,up side down it a pain in the azz to work on,,cant get comfortable in any position..nice engineering..i use a square box looking doo hicky when i roll them over..a big 10' round wheel works gr8 bolted to the transom..you can get the wheel off a left over power cable reel that is left over from the high power lines..

Eliminatorshane 02-14-2014 07:15 PM

That's awesome! We use the capsizer 8000 and also have smaller rotisserie. But looks like it worked pretty good. It can be scary!

phragle 02-14-2014 09:16 PM

Brian if you want said power cable real...I have a couple, all yours man!!!!

Cool. What are you doing to the boat Brian? Straightening the bottom?
Eddie

What keeps the fixture from wanting to squirt off the bow? I would think there significant force trying to push that right off the end?

I am sure he is using the front eyelet and bow light holes to secure the front mount. I was going to make a similar front mount and try my automotive rotisserie but we have work to do to the front eyelet area, we also had to move the boat 200 ft from front of shop to the booth and did not trust the small wheels on the rotisserie.

This is our 3rd winter in a row for this boat, 2 years ago we took the boat from twin 292 6 cylinders with Alpha drives to a single 496 HO with a Bravo drive. Last year we did a custom cooler in the floor, gauges, some touch up and a new trailer. This year its blueprint the bottom, refinish/repair/replace all the wood, new windshield, replace or refinish all the hardware and paint the entire boat with color changes.

vintage chromoly 02-16-2014 08:42 AM

Yes. The front yoke is secured at the bow eye mounting point and through the top lifting cleat hole. Both attachment points are structural. I can spin the hull to any angle and it's as stiff as a wedding dick.

All homemade with scrap steel from work.

Brian, are you "blueprinting" your hull?

jeff32 02-16-2014 08:53 AM

Are you sure the engine compartment pictures are from the same boat???
What a difference!!!

Yes its the same boat. It was a lot of work with a new transom, stringer change, wiring harness from dash to engine, shifter, custom exhaust and relocated the batteries from bow to engine bay.

Young Performance 02-16-2014 04:33 PM

Engine compartment looks great. What Cig is that? Is this your personal boat or is a for a customer?

I forgot about this thread until I saw a link to it today. Boat is a customers and it has come a long way but it is currently at a stall since the beginning of August.

At some time during its past life somebody went wild with a grinder on the boat and painted over their sin. We striped it to bare glass made many repairs and making it flat and true from end to end. All work was done with glass and gel coat with no fillers.

Can you tell me more about the capsizer and other rotisserie ideas? I like what FIXX did and something like that might work very well.

Making some headway with ideas...thanks for all of them...keep noodling and I'll post pictures good or bad as to how this all turns out. Planning on getting started with operation square peg/round hole tomorrow.
