Trim Pump Hose
Is there some magical way of finding bulk hose and replacing these, or should I just contact the manufacturer and order them the correct length, etc from the factory? Which is easiest to do?

I used -4 braided line.

It is not magical..... our local Gran Prix speed shop has it and fittings......or (cheaper) call any hydraulics shop and they will make them up for you, no problem!!

Cord,
If I used braided line, is there any experience provoking help you could lend? I'd guess I'd want to start at the drive and work forward and buy excess line and cut at the trim pump (which is on the back of my rear bench seat) and put the fitting on there? The braided line seems like a good idea, but I'd wind up replacing both trim lines, and probably other lines in time. Man, you're making a lot of work for me. LOL! Mark |
Mark,
Call the factory and ask for Marty Bosenger. He is one of the only guys that returns calls. Ask him what length the trim line is. Then go to a hydraulic shop and have them make the line. Did you have one burst? Dan |
I used -4 brake line. It's a bit different from the other lines in that it has a hard inner tube. Almost looks like the cheap hardware store nylon tube. Despite the difference, the line cost is almost the same. The fittings are specific to the hose, so be sure to get the right ones. I use the endure steel ones. The real trick was getting the correct adapter fittings. It took me a couple of trys to get it right. I can get you the part numbers if you'd like. I believe that a new hard line needs to be bent for the transom too. Access isn't bad and it didn't take me long to bend them up. When you take off the merc lines you'll see what needs to be done.
